Mama

It embodies a physical representation of the mother figure and reflects my fear of maternal control, of becoming a mother, and of emotional inheritance. The piece must be physically stretched to exist, mirroring the overwhelming burden my mother carried within a fractured family structure.
In my upbringing, my mother was forced to become the "monster," but in truth, she was just an ordinary woman, pushed into this tragic role by structural oppression and emotional suppression.
