Dog hair, human hair, metal from dog cages
This series of works is based on peter siger's proposition that 'all animals are equal' in the context of Animal Liberation, critiques the pervasive cruelty towards pets in Chinese society.
Inspired by the ubiquitous stacked, scattered and in-use cages used for restraining animals that the artist observed during a visit to an animal shelter in Chongqing, China, the element 'cage' is used in this piece to implicate human behavior.
By ultilizing knitting technique to blend dog hair, human hair, and metal, it explores how textile can be combined with human body and photography as an activist strategy to stir the viewer's understanding of speciesism and consider their own roles in this issue.
