Batik, Ice Dye on Knitted Textiles
35 x 28 cm, 100 x 30cm
Letter merges knitting, batik, and ice dyeing to explore delayed emotional response. The artist first knits a fabric like letter paper, embedding emotional labor into each stitch. A personal poem is inscribed using batik technique, then altered through ice dyeing—where melting pigments flow unpredictably, obscuring the text. The final act of removing the wax reveals fragmented, ghost-like words, symbolizing how sorrow often surfaces gradually. Through this layered process, Letter captures the tension between concealment and revelation, mirroring how emotional truths emerge slowly, shaped by time and inner resistance.
